This choker has been hand-made with recon turquoise and red jasper with a tie rope closure. It measures 16 inches in lenght with the option to go shorter.
Recon Turquoise is turquoise that has been grinded into a powder, but also contains resins and occasionally dyes. It is a great way to recycle small pieces or marred pieces that would otherwise be wasted. Typically when reconstituted turquoise is made, it is formed and set in block or bricks. They are then carved, cut, or shaped in a variety of ways.
Although often referred to as a mineral, jasper is in fact a rock. This is because although made up primarily of quartz and/or chalcedony, it often features impurities of other minerals and substances. These impurities are the reason why most jasper is opaque. They're also responsible for the many different colors and markings.
