The medicine wheel is a sacred symbol used by the Northern Plains people and others to represent all knowledge of the universe. It is representative of the four directions, the four seasons, the four elements, and the four stages of life: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.
The medicine wheel symbols is accented with inlay tracks of the wolf, Sungmanitu thanka. The wolf possesses the supernatural power of direction, leadership, and protection; it is believed that the wolf society protected the Lakota people in times of war.
The ring is hand-made with German silver and inlaid with buffalo horn, pipestone, mother of pearl, and sandstone. It measures 1/2 inch wide and is available in a size 11.
