The buffalo, tatanka was held in high regard by the Lakota people. The buffalo was respected as a symbol of the divinity because the buffalo gave up its own life to feed, clothe and provide everlasting life and transformation.

Created by Oglala Lakota artist, Alan Monroe, this buffalo effigy is carved from a single piece of wood and painted with acrylic paint. Dance Stick measures approximately 20-inches long with hand-painted feather suspensions.
